About the Lake House

Built in 1894, the Inn at Smith Cove Lake House on Lake Winnipesaukee has been restored with its spacious piazzas front and sides. The ivory colored Victorian home trimmed in green presides over an acre of beautifully landscaped shrubs and flowering patios.

After more than a decade of welcoming guests to this lovely, quiet spot on New Hampshire’s largest lake, your hosts Bob and Maria Ruggiero, innkeepers and owners, know just what makes their guests feel at home. “Our guests are looking for a getaway to enjoy our lakefront location and casual, relaxing atmosphere. It really is a home-away-from-home! “

The Lake House guest rooms are located on the first and second floors and all decorated in their individual Victorian settings with private baths and air conditioners and many offering water views. If your group is more than twelve, additional accommodations are available upon request.

Also on the first floor of the Inn is an 18' x 26' living room with natural wood walls set off by wall coverings and draperies of the period and fireplace.

There are a variety of restaurants nearby but you’ll likely prefer to make yourself at home in the newly renovated fully equipped kitchen including a table for eight. We hope where to dine in this lake house will be the biggest decision of your day.

Will it be at the family table in the living room, in one of the comfy chairs on the porch to enjoy the lake view, under the umbrella at the outside tables on the back patio, or at the table in the gazebo so you can enjoy the sounds of the lake and the amazing views? The kitchen also features doorstep access to the back patio surrounded by gardens complete with new gas grill and tables for seating, all with their own umbrellas.

Two popular nearby area restaurants offer discounts to guests of this lake house. Just a short walk away, The Lyon’s Den Restaurant & Tavern has great water views is open for lunch and dinner. Patrick’s Pub & Eatery, a local landmark for great food, fun and entertainment, is an Irish pub just a short mile drive away.

Relax in our gazebo or settle in on the beach.

For ultimate relaxation, follow the path to the gazebo, settle into your favorite chair and watch the boats go by, watch the ducks, read a book or do what most guests do… listen to the mesmerizing sounds of the lake, the loons and take a nap!

If you are looking for something smaller, there are also four cottages available for lakefront vacation rentals for extended stays in all seasons!
